Phase 2:
Olympic Development Program
& Young Olympians Program

General Information

The New Mexico Olympic Development Program is here to help players reach their full potential!

New Mexico ODP

The New Mexico Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program is a player identification and development program.  It provides age-eligible players an opportunity to represent New Mexico at the US Youth Soccer Region IV level and beyond.  Player development provided at Olympic Development Program events is intended to compliment training at the club level.

New Mexico YOP

The Young Olympians Program (YOP) serves as an introduction to ODP. YOP caters to players born one year below the youngest ODP age group. YOP training pools are trained by the ODP coaching staff in a competitive training environment with the emphasis on player development and evaluation. The YOP training sessions take place over four weekends in March and April.

New Mexico Objectives

The New Mexico Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program seeks to establish a process, approved by New Mexico Youth Soccer and not in conflict with Region IV, the US Youth Soccer Association, or United States Soccer Federation, for identifying and training the outstanding male and female youth soccer players in the State and to provide each such player the best opportunity to qualify for New Mexico State Soccer, US Youth Soccer Region IV, and US Soccer National Team programs. The program provides the best opportunities for each player to further develop his or her soccer skills so as to reach the highest possible level of soccer.

We are a program that aims to identify the best of the best from New Mexico and surrounding areas. The New Mexico ODP offers unique training and competition to compliment the player's existing club team experience. We offer nationally licensed coaches and college level coaches to help develop these elite players. The New Mexico ODP helps identify potential national team players at various ages, both boys and girls. As a New Mexico ODP member, you will have the opportunity to play and train with the best players, guided by top level National, Regional, and New Mexico coaches. It is a great chance to represent the state of New Mexico in the region, and possibly the nation! We work hard to schedule events to not conflict with your club experience.

National Purpose

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

The US Youth Soccer ODP goal is to identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis and contribute to the ongoing success of the U.S. National Teams in the international arena.
