The game of soccer has evolved over the last 10 years and knowledgeable professionals across the world have established ways in which they help influence the way young players are learning the game. Many studies have been produced and it is now generally accepted across the soccer world that the best years to institute the correct technical foundation for all players are from the ages of 9-13 years old. As such New Mexico ODP is proud to introduce and establish the Player Development Program (PDP) to its members.
The Player Development Program (PDP) is an opportunity open to all players within the ages of 9 (U-10) to 13 (U-14). We have 6 sites across the state where fully licensed coaches will run developmentally appropriate sessions primarily focusing on increasing the technical abilities of each player. Soccer is fundamentally about the ability to control the ball and make fast decisions in an ever-changing environment. Through PDP our players will learn these vital aspects during the most important years of their development.
The program will significantly help improve players across the state but also give opportunities for coaches to increase their skill set as well. We will encourage the coaches in these areas and beyond to come out to the sessions, take note of the activities, games, and techniques shown, and use them in their own environments with their own teams. Learning different coaching techniques and styles is very beneficial for all coaches plus the players get a strong consistent message across the state!
This program is NOT A TRYOUT! The Player Development Program is designed to introduce the younger players to the high level coaches that will be utilized in the New Mexico Olympic Development Program. This is a stress free environment that will expose your player to a higher level of the game! Each PDP site consists of two (2) training sessions of (1.5) hours in duration. Each site is a separate registration.

Cost for PDP: $15 for two sessions
Players Should Bring: Proper clothing for weather, ball, cleats, shin guards and water.
